I would like to run across the island, from coast to coast, then run back again. The island is perhaps 12 miles across. The route takes me up a mountain, over a coll, and then down the other side.
It’s an enormous challenge. Most of the route is completely deserted – only near the sea are there houses and people – and the weather is constantly very hot.
I ran two marathons years ago and was extremely fit. But even in those days I would probably have thought twice about this particular challenge.
Now I’m almost 54.
I need to plan out how to achieve this goal.
To be honest, I don’t know if I can or even if it would be good for me to do.
I intend to do it in the next two years, before 25 AUG 2013.
