The Iris

of Kichijoji

At Jindaiji botanical garden (and it's village) today

I came for the roses, but there was so much more. (Many shots in comments)

Azalea (tsutsuji) are blooming all over Tokyo now

Many different types, many different colors. I really like this one. (See more shots)

Street aroma therapy

Chibi Jun stops to smell the jasmine. Jun-chan, isn’t it a bit early for that can of beer?

It's rose season in Tokyo

I shot these to and from the park’s jogging track today. I guess all roses have names, but I have no idea what these are, so I’ll give them my own names. This first one, for some reason, reminds me of a fairy tale, don’t ask me why, so I’ve named it Fairy Tale Rose. (See comments for more)

What is this flower?

Anybody know?

Orchids do well in Japan

They are sold in most flower shops, and not that expensive. Keep it inside till all the flowers are gone, then put it in the garden where it will bloom again the next year. This is from a garden down the street.

The clematis is in bloom down the street.

Such a beautiful flower

Japanese poppies

They have a very short season, and none of the properties of those grown in the Triangle.

The tree with a funny name

This is hana mizu. It has either pink or white blossoms. In kanji, it’s meaning is flower water, but in kana, it can be confused with the other hana mizu, which means nose water, the Japanese term for snot. In Hawaii, we have a tree with yellow blossoms called golden shower. I won’t go into the other meaning for that.
