So, my plan to make a database was good in principle, but failed in execution because I bought too many DVDs in the past month and a bit. So, in order to curb my spending habits, maximize the shelfspace in my home, and get back on track with this goal, I’m doing the same thing I did with my comics: nothing new until I make a gameplan AND actually accomplish some things on it. Which is too bad because there were a few things I wanted to get this week, but now I can’t. I guess they’re just acting as impetus now…

According to my DVD Afficionado profile, I have 246 dvds or dvd box sets in my collection. I would estimate that I’ve added at least 15 of those in the past month, thanks to my “new job shopping spree” (for anyone who’s worried about the extra income going to my head, I cleared it with my wife first, and she was okay with it with my FIRST paycheque only). Okay, maybe 246 isn’t that many, you’re thinking. Then consider the fact that at least 1/2 of them are either TV seasons or multi-disc collections. That’s a lot. (If you still don’t think it’s that many dvds: you are living my dream life.)
I need to make a system for how to get through these dvds, decide which ones are worth keeping and which ones to give away or sell to the used bookstores. I have an idea for a database based on total hours, but that’s going to take some time to build. Luckily for me, I like making lists and databases. I’m going to check back in a week, hopefully that’ll be enough time to put together a gameplan. And maybe this gameplan will work better than the one I made for my comics, which is just falling to pieces...
