December: Striking The Set 2 weeks ago

Last Saturday after our show closed, everyone in the cast and crew participated in the strike (a.k.a. demolished the set, but nicely). It wasn’t so much pulling the walls and doors down – although that was fun, and I did get to wield a power screwdriver for a good hour and a half – but I got to use the Genie! I’ve wanted to go up in a Genie since I was in my first show at age five or six, but was never in any position to. During the strike, though, the stage manager told me to go up in it to remove some support beams, and I was freaking GIDDY. I shouted “This is the happiest day of my life!” when I was at the top, and even though it wasn’t really, it was still pretty awesome. Fun, exciting, and fulfilled one of my fondest wishes from childhood. Hooray times!

(Note: The Genie pictured is not actually the model I used. It’s just there to show what I’m talking about.)

December: Electric Razor? 3 weeks ago

I used an electric razor for the first time today. I usually just use a triple-bladed razor, but I had to shave my beard for the play I am acting in, and forgot to shave before I arrived. So a fellow actor lent me his electric razor. It was the first time an electric razor had really even been feasible, and I would have looked AWFUL in make-up and five-o’clock-shadow, so I gave it a whirl.

It was surprisingly nice; fairly smooth shave, no way of cutting myself, and while I didn’t feel as refreshed, I didn’t quite feel as scraped. If I keep my clean face – and I really, REALLY don’t want to – I may just get a good electric razor for myself.

November: Conference 4 weeks ago

Man, I forgot November. Well, to make a long story short: I went to a speech pathology conference at the beginning of the month, which was a little more expensive than my budget could handle at the time, but overall definitely worth it. It was good to get out of town, hang out with some new faces, and get into the professional development angle. I really liked it, aside from the fact that the presenters skimped a little on the clinical side of things, and will definitely be back next year.

October - Brother's Wedding, Limo 2 months ago

So my brother got married this weekend, which was definitely new and SO fulfilling, and as an added bonus I got to ride around in a limo with the rest of the wedding party and had a blast. Sure, the limo was a little cheesy, but I had a lot of fun. Two new and fulfilling things in the first week of October. Something tells me I’m going to have to work hard in the coming weeks to try and match that!
