gym buddy

May have met a gym buddy today; I think arranging to go with someone on a regular basis is the ticket! :c)

Yoga II

Time to start going to yoga again. I;ve been avoiding it because of pain, but I think I’m going to start going again because of pain, i.e. to help relieve it. In other words, turn an obstacle into an opportunity. If some of the postures aggravate the pain, I will just avoid those particular ones.

Been hard to do this – even just the yoga – with my elbow bursitis :c(

Yoga

Re-activated my gym membership after a hiatus of several months, and took in a “fusion” yoga (yoga & Pilates?) class last Monday. Tried to go to another yoga class once or twice this week, but without success. This is to help my back…

Speaking of which, I was in a ton of pain this spring. Saw an old doctor of mine who recommended stretches. Now, I am not doing the right ones yet, BUT I am doing a different one at work during short idle periods…and my back pain all but disappeared!!! :c) Well, the new and worse pain, anyway. (Due to tight hamstrings.)

Untitled

Went with GF today, 3.5 hours including some time in the steam room. Take it easy on the back & knee related exercises, but I give er hell on the upper body machines!! :c)

Having a workout partner makes all the difference!

GF has been going regularly, so we went together today and will again. Having a workout partner makes all the difference! :c)

So does the YMCA’s financial assistance program. Wish I’d known about it last year…

twice this week

GF and I went twice this week, on her days off. That seems to be a good schedule while work is slow.

As far as cost-effectiveness goes…every week I go twice “pays for” a week I didn’t go! LOL So I only have to go twice a week for another…fourty or fifty weeks to be as cost-effective as using a punch card would have been!! LOL

Also, my weight was 77 kg on Monday (probably a little high) and 76.2 kg on Thursday. While I’d like to hit 200# of muscle someday, I’m a thin guy and that will have to be a long-term goal. But 80 kg will be me near-future goal.

Untitled

Went a couple of times last summer/fall but forget when. GF and I went together today. That’s the thing, is to have a workout buddy; it does more for my gym attendance than anything.

Later note: we went a second time that week, also. :c)

So much for cost effectiveness!

So much for cost effectiveness! LOL I started picking up more work about the time of my last entry, and have been busy enough that I’ve hardly thought about the gym. Too bad I didn’t cancel my membership around that time…

Still about as busy now, but maybe after my next layoff. The winter may give me more free time – or it may not. Depends on how much it snows. But once a week is still my workout goal.

cost effectiveness

Let’s see. I’ve had my gym membership since January, and I need to use it four times per month in order for my monthly membership to be more cost-effective then a drop-in fee. I really didn’t use it from Jan-May, other than to reduce the price of dance classes. So that means I need to use it 5×4 = 20 times to get my money back out of it. (Beyond the once per week I currently have as a goal.)
