My second short story came back yesterday, with a “thanks but no thanks,’ rejection letter. I’m glad I’ve tried, because I have want ed to write for years and years, and never done anything about it. I’ll keep on trying.

The first short story I wrote was returned to my letter box yesterday, in the self-addressed envelope adorned with my own handwriting. I opened the envelope expecting a rejection letter. Instead, there was a letter saying, thank you for sending your short story, but due to space constraints we no longer publish fiction.
When I re-read my story, I thought ‘I can write better than this!’ so I’m working on re-writing my story. I read somewhere that when you write something, you should put it aside for a while, and come back to it later. You’ll be seeing your writing with ‘fresh’ eyes, and any mistakes or shortcomings will be more readily apparent. It happened to me in this case. So, I learned two things, and the quest for publication continues.
I had an idea for a short story last week and I wrote it today. It’s a very simple little story, but then again, I’m a simple little person.
I sent my story off into the world, and now, I plan to write more, and send them off too. That way, if a story gets rejected, I have more stories out there, and I’m not relying on one story to get published. I’m planning to enter a story in a local competition too.
I wrote a short story yesterday, and now I need to make a few small changes, (correct spelling mistakes and things like that) and I’m going to send it off. I’m aiming it at the Womens’ magazine market.
