trying to catch the notice of a certain boy. Ha ha. At least it got me started. I got the notice I was looking for, then I got over the boy, but the compliments I now get from my friends and other people at school keep me going at this. (: It helps me feel better and more confident each day, too.
I cleaned out my closet, which I hadn’t done in years, and got rid of the stuff that I never want to or will never be able to wear again. The truth is, I already had some great things to wear in there, some older than others but still nice, and I just couldn’t see it that easily because of all the other stuff. I didn’t go out shopping and I didn’t spend a whole bunch of money to accomplish this goal at all. I hope this helps other people realize that this doesn’t have to be an expensive goal. While I was out shopping for other non-clothing items, I saw a few pieces that would complement stuff that I already wore and picked those up, which improved things. But nothing extreme or expensive. I notice that people compliment me more when I accessorize – makes things look more pulled together, I guess – and I’m in the process of finding better accessories, in additions to the ones I already have.
I also started taking better care of my hair and even occasionally curling it just for school. I used to hate curling my hair, though I love the look, because it took too long and later fell out of curls anyway. But the more I do it, the more efficient I get at it, and even if it doesn’t stay completely curled, it’s still nicer than just being stick-straight. I was glad to find a new, more efficient curling iron for cheap – they’re not too expensive, these days. I don’t curl my hair every day, though, because it’ll get boring and for fear of frying my hair.
Hmm. I think it sounds a little superficial, but then the little things in my day (dressing nicely) help out with the bigger things (making it a good day). I guess my point is, this can be an easy, inexpensive, fulfilling goal to accomplish and good luck to everyone here. A key part is using what you have if possible.
