but sure start. I bought new scissors and this weekend started cutting it out. since people are always telling me to Cut It Out! :) But I’m trying to fudge on the size a little – when I bought the pattern (the very last one they had in stock) I didn’t look at the sizing chart, and when I got it home I realized the pattern size I should have bought was a full 3 sizes bigger than what I buy off the rack. WTF? Hopefully I can make this work without too much trouble …

I did get the pattern bought! And the zipper and buttons. Now all I need is time to work on it. Yay!
I may go buy a pattern – JoAnn Fabrics has a pattern sale, and since I wasn’t able to find exactly what I wanted on Burda, I’ve been waiting for this. I got online and found two possible patterns, and even if one isn’t in stock, hopefully the other will be.
I think I’ll have enough fabric to also use in a Christmas dress for my little Kaiya, so I found a couple of girls patterns, too.
Now all I have to do is actually remember to get over there next week! Since I’ll have just returned from a couple of days in Milwaukee, I think I’ll put it on my calendar, just in case. :)
I’m pretty sure I still kept a bunch of patterns for various things, including one that was a dress & jacket I made and a sleeveless shell top, which would be perfect for this. The problem is, I can’t find it in our morass of a basement project – I looked there again tonight and upstairs in the all-purpose room that has some sewing stuff. No dice. :( Also can’t find any girls dress patterns, which may have one I could use for the rest of this fabric for little Kaiya for a Christmas dress.
I also got an e-mail from Joann Fabrics this week that has a 50% off (online only) offer, but when I logged on, I found they don’t offer patterns online. I am not paying full price for a pattern, so I guess I need to keep my eyes open and try to think through what other alternatives I might have.
I dug out the fabric and was looking at it – and was amazed to find that it was folded over several times and I hadn’t realized how much there was. It turns out I have 3 yards to deal with! So now my plan has switched to making either a dress or long-sleeved blouse. And I’ll have to find and buy a pattern. And it will take some time. So this may end up getting bumped until after the holidays …
Mom gave me this beautiful fabric, a silky red with a black design, which I think she brought back from the orient when she was there. It’s only about a yard, if that, but will be enough to make a sleeveless shell blouse that would be beautiful with a couple of my black suits. And shouldn’t take that long. It’s just one of those back-burner things I never seem to get around to doing.
