with my friend Kathy. I haven’t been taking lunch breaks lately – waaay too busy, so it was extra-nice.

were here for a meeting. Though the meeting took up almost all of the morning, at a hideously busy time, it was great to see them.
my Good Thing was a call from my grandson Aidan (in CA), thanking us for his birthday gifts – he just turned 5!
Today’s was a great pre-dawn 5k in the fog, which I love.
But I had a fun run, am having a slow-paced catch-up day at work while Boss Man and the office manager are both gone, and got an e-mail from a friend that has a link to a great map of all the area bike paths, which is helpful with the house hunt.
I did get a short run in, and got a really important estate tax clearance.
Today I had a great neck rub before I even got out of bed, finally mastered the spreadsheet that had given me fits the day before, and got to go out to lunch with Boss Man & my friend Kathy. Potential buyers went through the house again (drove 3 1/2 hours with her Mom to see it), and seem poised to make an offer. It remains to be seen whether that will turn into a good thing or not. :)
with my friend Terri, who I haven’t seen in a while.
Showing the house to a very nice couple who have the same names as my Eldest Daughter & son-in-law.
Continued nice weather.
Running lumbering slowly along this morning before work. :)
I need to start making time to focus on this goal each day.
Last night we went to Boss Man’s Rotary Club Hoedown, which was actually really fun. Here he is in the hat he stole from our office manager. :)
The weird thing was that they hired the same jazz band they always had for their wine tastings, and had swing dance lessons. At a hoedown. Hmmmm.
I told my husband I wasn’t sure how to dress since it was a “hoedown” – as a cowgirl or a street walker! :D
I was able to go on a Field Trip with my husband’s Rotary Club to a local organic farm, and it was absolutely awesome! First, our hospitable hosts grilled some burgers and fed us, and since the light fades early these days, we just grabbed a plateful of food, bundled up, and hopped onto his hayrack for the tour.
These people are geniuses at forming mutually beneficial partnerships. For instance, the city I live in delivers mega-loads of leaves to them, which they use for mulch, and our city then doesn’t have to pay to use the county waste site. But their biggest partnership is with a local private college. Not only is there a contingent of students who volunteers there, but the veggies from the school cafeteria are taken out to be used as compost (in biodegradable bags), the used cooking oil is also taken out to become biodiesel fuel, which fuels the tractors on the farm, and the college buys the produce that comes from the farm for their cafeteria. Within the next couple of weeks the students will also be helping excavate part of the land for an earth berm greenhouse like the ones they saw on a trip to China, so they will eventually have year-round growing capability. They’re also applying for a grant to get a smallish wind turbine to power the greenhouse. And are in the midst of developing a wetland area that will not only nurture water fowl, but will be constructing a new pond to stock with fish. One of the students also roped the woman into beekeeping, which has apparently really helped their crop outputs.
This is the little outbuilding we started the evening in, with their mouser farm cat in the window, and a nice painting done by a friend. I just love this place!
good things today, despite the work chaos:
1. New running shoes! Last spring I made the mistake of getting cheaper ones, and had to replace them, as they did horrible things to my body.
2. Cool, beautiful running weather – with mist rising out of the river along the bend.
3. New work clothes, shoes, jewelry. I finally used up the rest of a gift certificate from last Christmas and hit a great end-of-season sale.
I can’t believe I actually won a nice prize – I never win anything, usually. Last Saturday I went to a women’s convention sponsored in part by one of the local riverboat casinos, and I won their drawing for a free night’s stay at their hotel and dinner for two. :) I am taking this as an omen that things are indeed going to continue getting better in the lives of my family. Woo hoo!
