Ugh.

Continued negative progress. But I do deserve brownie points (no pun intended!) for resisting the temptation of the French Silk Pie and peanut M & M’s here in the office for 2 days in a row now.

Although the foot injury is the hugest part of my failure here, it’s obviously not all of it. I need to get my eating under control, and quit making excuses.

Argh!

I’ve been doing better this past week in my eating habits and working out more consistently – until tonight. Had to go to my monster mother-in-law’s, and the stress sent me running to the chocolate, followed by candy corn, which I’m really not even fond of.

If I had to see her on a regular basis I would become either a sumo wrestler or an alcoholic, I swear to God!

Weigh-in

this morning had me down 4 lbs. from when I started, but it may have simply been 4 lbs. of sweat! This morning’s run was reeaalllly sweaty, not a cloud in the sky and I went out late.

Finally

tackling this again, since I am now on the horrifying brink of actual obesity.

I recently ran into a friend who was part of the group that went to Cabo in February, and was even a bit chunkier than me at that time. She looked great, and has lost about 30 pounds since then. Apparently she’s been using this stuff called Slimquick, which I am now starting, as of today. I’d tried the pill version of this before with zero results, but hey – if the beverage packet version worked for Amie, I’ll give it a shot, along with making this more of a priority.

The weekend

has gone ok; though I don’t expect to see any loss, I’ll be happy if I just didn’t gain anything. Eating healthier all the time, and am loving trying new recipes from SparkPeople.

Yesterday I intended to run long, but the combination of feeling faint from the minute I woke up (dehydrated and not eating enough) and the heat/humidity made my pathetic 10k almost impossible – I walked a lot on the way back. So decided to hydrate well, eat more and try again today. Which was a joy! I logged 10.56 miles, but probably had about 1/2 mile of walking mixed into the last 2 miles. At times it seemed like I was running through a snow storm, without the nasty accompanying cold – thanks to the beautiful cottonwood fluff floating through the air!

Weigh-in

this morning showed a little more progress toward my goal, I think – it might just be due to sweat, not loss of actual pudge! Down 11 pounds from when I joined this goal, so I’m about 1/3 of the way there.

Since I ran the 7+ mile (hilly & hot) training run last night and will probably do long-ish mileage tomorrow, I kept it to 5k this morning, but did incorporate The Hill.

Scale Avoidance

has been my m.o. this week. :) Bad weekend, and it took me a day or two to get with the program again. But I have at least been out to run every day except yesterday, when I did about a 50-minute workout at home. I haven’t been out yet today, because I’m planning on doing the Bix 7 training run after work. Maybe I’ll be brave tomorrow …

Over the weekend

my eating was really not great – pizza Friday night, 2 parties on Saturday night and Father’s Day food; ugh.

But I did get out to run – 9 miles Saturday (but with about 1/2 mile walking when overheated), and 5 miles each Sunday and this morning. It was soooo great to be out, despite the heat and humidity! I saw a couple of friends on the bike path Saturday, and amazingly, the pelicans are still with us! It’s been raining at least a little almost every day for the past couple of weeks, so some of our neighbors are getting cute little mushrooms in their lawns. :) And a newer neighbor who I believe is from India is in the process of planting the most fragrant garden – mmmm! One of the “regulars” was beaming this morning when he told me his daughter brought him a rhubarb pie for Father’s Day. :) Yup, it’s good to get out!

Modest Progress

8 down so far, and though I have a long way to go, I feel better already. :)

Although

this morning’s weigh-in was not really great, it wasn’t horrible, either. I didn’t get a run in yesterday, but today ran 4 miles before work and walked 50 minutes at lunch break. Outside. In the killer heat. Needless to say, the dress I was wearing needs to be dry cleaned now! The eating hasn’t been bad these past couple of days, but my success with the bread baking tonight didn’t help. :) Soon I will go do a little workout – if I can pry my fingers off the keyboard, that is!
