San Francisco

Love this city!

Pier 39

in San Francisco, after the Illini won their bowl game!

Returning

from our excellent day trip to Galena last Saturday, I shot this from the window of the car. Yes, Hubby was driving, so it was OK. :)

This

may be easier now for me. For my birthday my wonderful husband got me this really great Canon Elph Power Shot, which is a bit smaller and hence more portable, has both auto and manual settings (as well as an easy-to-use video capability), an extra rechargeable battery so I’ll never be out of juice, a great little case with a zippered pouch to store an extra battery and/or memory card – and best of all, it’s not falling apart to the extent it needs to be held together by a rubber band, like my old Sony! So far I love it, and have only scratched the surface of learning to use it.

Now all I have to do is pay more attention to when the sun is setting! :)

19. (I think!) Egg Harbor, WI

We arrived at our inn just before sunset, so quickly dropped off our luggage and headed to the back porch – where this shot was taken. It was a glorious, long sunset and my husband got even better shots with his new Canon.

Christmas sunset

This was taken right before Christmas from the desk in my little office – you can see the poinsettia plant my co-worker gave me on the window sill.

The view

from my window in my cozy little office. I so love having a nice big window, and it even has a 2-foot-wide white marble sill.

Bittersweet Sunset 12/2/08

From my car on my way back from dropping my CA kids at Midway airport in Chicago. Wonderful to have them here, but so sad to see them go. I will love having my house in order again, though, I have to admit! :)

I hope

to be able to catch some more of these soon – I have a new cell phone on it’s way which has a camera. Yay!

A few days ago

on my way home I saw a near-sunset that had what I think is called a sundog – if you look to the left, you can see a kind of vertical rainbow-ish column. I’ve only ever seen this in the winter before and it intrigued me to see it now, so I had to pull over and snap a shot.
