Kaiya and I made good progress on her white capris. She tried them on, even. :) Still need to do the elastic waist & the hem, which is funky, cuz there is a little side slit.
Fun!

she finished hand-sewing the trim, and the stocking is done! She keeps begging me to sew more, so we may do another stocking or two, and maybe a football pillow for her brother, for which I’ll need to buy supplies.
It’s so good to be near her now!
we started the stocking, and the kids were both excited to use the sewing machine, especially Kaiya. We made huge progress that day, and she loves sewing so far!
came to me today. At work, my boss asked me to buy items on behalf of the firm for a local agency that includes a homeless shelter and is hosting a Thanksgiving meal, which also gives out Christmas stockings filled with certain items at the event. BINGO! A Christmas stocking would be super easy to sew, and they could even embellish them a bit, if they wish. It would be not only a sewing lesson, but a reinforcement of the giving attitude their parents teach them so well. Especially if they go with me to buy the items to put inside.
I’m planning to teach at least Kaiya and maybe Aidan, too, how to sew. When they were over yesterday, they wanted me to read a Thanksgiving book to them in the guest bedroom, and grabbed ahold of Spunky, the classic sock monkey I made when Kaiya was born.
They noticed he was coming apart in a couple of spots, so I taught them how to hand-mend him – and they were so proud! I had to tie the knots to start & finish (they don’t quite get that yet), but they did just fine.
