Go somewhere that requires a passport

Mollie’s advice and applied for a credit card that will earn me mileage rewards. After carefully reading through the account provisions, I think it’s just what I need – there is no annual fee (a big deal for me), the miles can apply to different airlines without a lot of restrictions, etc. So instead of using my personal card that accumulates a teensy bit of cash to go to the grandkids’ 529 accounts (which have tanked anyway), I’ll start using this one when it arrives.

I’ve also stashed away tiny bits of cash, but the lack of bonuses and unexpected expenses are not making that easy. This morning I had to hitch a ride with a co-worker, since my garage door opener broke with my car still inside! I hope that won’t be too expensive to fix …

I’ve been mulling over the advice of my young friend Sue, whose response to my statement that I couldn’t afford to do this was “Sure you can. Just put aside $20 a week and eventually you’ll have what you need”. Though we’re still in debt right now, when we get out I may take her advice. I most likely will not have that much to put away (maybe half that would be doable), but any progress at all would give me some kind of hope.

Single N is in the process of obtaining a passport _sigh. She’s semi-retired and is planning a trip to France next year and possibly will go on a cruise requiring it with her sis and bil in 2007 still.

Though she really deserves it and I’m so happy for her, I have to admit to some envy, too. At least I can live vicariously!

My husband tells me there may be a possibility of being sent on a business trip to Egypt, and I could probably tag along, as I sometimes do, paying only for my air fare, food and any additional lodging costs my joining him may cause (there are usually none). Though Egypt was not at the top of my list of desired destinations, I’d definitely do it if the opportunity presents itself.
