Last night was my last rowing class, and it was a beautiful night on the river. I don’t think I’ll pursue the group rowing any more at this point though; I don’t really have the time (I missed half the classes because of working late or social commitments) and because I’m so freakishly uncoordinated with my left side!
Sea kayaking is still the ultimate goal …

Rowing class last night was great, but there is definitely a lot more to it than I imagined! I do want to stick with it until I become a decent rower. Since there are 8 of us to a boat, I didn’t have a very long time to practice, but finally being on the water was great. I even got to see a beautiful white crane along the shore. I love living on the Mississippi!

Rowing class will be great! This is not really kayaking I’ll be doing, though, but more like sculling – you’re in a long narrow boat seating either 4 or 8, each person has an oar, and your seat moves as you row. It’s a whole-body workout which uses your legs more than arms – I’ll have to find another way to take care of the arm-jiggle! One of my coaches said he’s lost 30 lbs. doing this, so I’m in!

I signed up for a class today, which starts August 3. Rowing on the Mississippi – should be great!
