Big-time progress 1 month ago

on this goal the past few days! We need to downsize, and the great thing is my new church is having a bazaar this Saturday with a sort of “yard sale” component, so I’ve been leaving a lot of the better stuff off there. Bags & bags & bags of it. But there’s still so much left …

Unintentional 4 months ago

decluttering occurred the other night when I was trying to find my pinking shears (those are zig-zaggy sewing scissors, for those of you who were wondering:D ) and ended up tearing apart every end table drawer and kitchen junk drawer (there are 4) in the search. This was great, because it got me to finally throw out a lot of things, and organize or move to the correct spot those things I did want to keep.

And I discovered an addiction I didn’t realize I had – nail polish. :) I found 30 bottles of the stuff! Now I’ll have an excuse to buy that cute little basket I saw on sale last weekend, so I’ll have a place to put them all.

putting together another bag of Stuff to go to the Goodwill. Not great progress, but better than nothing. :)

At work 6 months ago

I’m decluttering as I prepare to re-paint. It feels great! And now I have an excuse to get rid of the awful purple silk flower bough I was given as a gift – it would clash horribly with the new paint color.

When I got home 7 months ago

from a long stressful work day today, it was so nice outside I decided to declutter all the dead things from my front landscaped areas. I worked on it for over an hour, until I completely lost my light. Though I know the windiness of March will blow more dead leaves in, it looks great now, and it was really therapeutic to be outside. :)

Today 10 months ago

I added an extraneous children’s bookshelf (shaped like an elephant) to my trunk full of things for the Goodwill. Since the trunk is now totally full, I’d better try to get up there tomorrow!

Yesterday 12 months ago

I bid a fond farewell to my Dad’s wicker furniture set that I don’t have a place for. He died 7 years ago, and when Mom sold the house I grew up in soon thereafter, I took the furniture. It’s been sitting in my basement, and now that we’re finishing the basement, it needed to go, but I couldn’t bear to take it to the Goodwill or sell it – I wanted it to have a good home.

Turns out my friend’s daughter who’s in her late 20’s just bought her first house, and was thrilled to have it! So yesterday I took the totally-crammed SUV of wicker to her. Yay!

Most 12 months ago

of my decluttering today occurred outside – trimming the overgrown, weeding, removing the dead stuff and transplanting from the crowded to the barren. And with the gale-force winds, I didn’t have to do any sweeping up after mowing, etc. :) What a joy to be outside!

Another box 12 months ago

is history. Moved a few still-good art supplies to where they belong in the spare room, but pitched most of it.

I am 13 months ago

so excited – I will do a nice bit of decluttering soon – we are finishing our basement (meaning, my husband is busting his arse working down there right now) and I have a set of wicker furniture which I cherish because it was my Dad’s, and he loved it and re-upholstered it for his patio. It’s been sitting in my basement since he died 7 years ago, and I really have no place for it.

Tonight I had a truly lovely evening of wine and great conversation with friends at Biaggi’s, and a friend’s 26-year-old daughter who just bought her first home was there. I mentioned the furniture, and she’d love to have it – yay!
