I got a last-minute call this weekend from one of the area art schools I had put my name into and I did my first gig. I was a little nervous driving there, but once in the room, everyone was very supportive and had great suggestions. I was at ease immediately and really came to enjoy it.

I don’t have a perfect body, but the artists seemed to appreciate me being there. I’d definitely do it again if the opportunity comes up.

Since I’m new at this, I called a local art supply store to find out where art classes and clubs meet in town. When I called the groups, everyone was very nice on the phone and said they would put my name on the list and if the instructors needed anyone, I might get a call. We’ll see if anything comes of it.

Looking for classes just out of town 2 years ago

I don’t really want to come close to running the risk of seeing someone I know, but I am very interested in doing this. There are a number of colleges around here and I am looking on their sites on Craigslist for possible opportunities.
