my brain’s feeling a little numb. I’ve been trying to find out about lots of different topics, and there’s plenty of info out there but it can all be a bit confusing.
www.ethicalconsumer.org is a fanastic site and I think I’m going to become a member too. They’ve done lots of rearch about companies/ organisations of any kind, clothing; food; banks; utilities; mobile networks; internet; games consoles; appliances and loads more, and put it together really well so that each copany has a score. This is based on lots of different things like social/ working policies; organic; fairtrade; sustainability blah blah blah. It’s all explained on their site. There’s even a list of suggested boycotts like Herbal Essences (animal testing); Coca-Cola (union repression in Columbia + badness in India); BP (should be obvious).
But ultimatly I’m feeling a tad overwhelmed, especially as I’ve been spending some time on greenpeace, amnesty and wwf sites. It’s really hard to know where to start. I think I’m going to:
1. Change my bank
2. Join ethicalconsumer
3. Buy some bamboo/ hemp clothes and superly moral chocolate – to reward myself :)
