And this is why they always warn you to backup your work in multiples places often… It’s gone. The entire second book of my series and the beginning of the third. The hard drive crashed. FI is going to take it into work tomorrow to see if they can save anything from the laptop, but it’s gone. And I am beyond heartbroken. I was just working on it last night and now it’s gone. And I don’t even have a hard copy of most of it because it was from NaNoWriMo and I gave up trying to write everything in the journal while keeping up with the daily word count.

I had someone like my story and I just about peed my pants. lol Using this has definitely helped to bring writing back to my attention. But with that comes a lot of jumping around with ideas. Today after the stress of socializing I decided to upload one of my short stories that I wrote back in college.
I’m not sure how long I’ll be able to keep up this pace, but I’m definitely enjoying myself. It’s nice to not be under the stress of the NaNo word count.
After two crummy days filled with nothing but work, I took the leap and uploaded the first chapter of my NaNoWrimo novel. It’s nerve wracking putting your work out there. Re-reading it before I posted it I felt cynical about it. Like who am I to think my writing is worth being read. But I have to remind myself why I’m doing this. I’m doing this to be creative. To feel more fulfilled with my life. I’m not the next J.K Rowling. My writing skills are rusty and half assed. The only way to get better is to apply myself and to receive feedback.
So if anyone out there is interested you can find chapter one here. I may add a few more chapters tonight.
Why do I write? Or rather why did I write?
In high school and college I had teachers and friends who were always interested in what I was writing. They were there to give me feedback and their genuine interest in when the next chapter was going to be completed is what really kept me writing. I don’t have that anymore and my writing has come to a screeching halt.
I don’t/didn’t write in the hopes of becoming a famous writer or making money off of it. I did it for the enjoyment of being able to entertain people and to explore my own thoughts and daydreams.
Goodreads.com has a section where you can publish books on their website. I’ve been toying with the idea of putting some of my writing on it and seeing if people are even interested in what I write and what kind of feedback I get. I’ve finally decided to make it a goal. I don’t know when I’ll actually get around to it, but I’m planning to make it a priority to try it out by the end of the month.
