...Dublin Dr. Pepper. I am lucky in that I am within the distribution radius of the Dublin (Texas) Dr. Pepper bottling plant. They are one of the few places to buy genuine Dr. Pepper, made with the original Imperial Pure Cane Sugar formula and not high fructose corn syrup. It comes in the 8 oz. glass bottle. I drink one a week, usually on Sunday, and I enjoy it very much.

...warmish, sunny day. Warm enough to sit on the screened porch this morning.

...Roadrunner siting. Such a handsome bird! I don’t see him very often, maybe once a month.

...Gingersnap cookies.

...perfectly ripened avocados. Now that I think about it, I’ve never had a bad avocado since moving to Texas four years ago. Texas has excellent produce! But I still hold my breath everytime I cut into one, hoping it is a good one.

...my large healthy jade plant. It just looks so friendly and inviting, with its rounded, puffy leaves.

...another rainy day. Yes it is cold and miserable, but the average rainfall for my area is only 27 inches a year, and we were down over 9 inches last year.

...my husband, who takes such good care of my car. He never lets the gas tank get below 3/4, checks all the fluids regularly, and tests the tire pressures weekly. It’s very nice to drive a reliable and well-maintained car.

...the big pot of chicken soup I made yesterday, there is plenty for tonight, and it tastes even better the second day.

...my daughter spreading out her art portfolio last night and asking which pieces I think she should enter in the exhibition. She’s going through an independent phase lately, it is nice to be asked to help her now and then.

...the grocery store bouquet I bought yesterday, it has opened up now, and looks so cheerful.

...my husband, who does so many nice, thoughtful things for me every day. One thing he does is sets the coffee pot up for me every morning. It is so nice to be able to stagger into the kitchen and just flip the switch.

instant oatmeal. I ate something last night that disagreed with me, a bowl of oatmeal settled my stomach down this morning.

tiny boxes of raisins. One is just the right size to put in a bowl of oatmeal.

seeing the first Goldfinch of the season this morning.

my washer and dryer. When I think back to years ago when I had to use laundromats, I am so grateful to have my own appliances. For some reason, laundromats invoked in me desperately lonely feelings.

afternoon car rides with my daughter. I pick her up from school every afternoon, it is a nice time for us to reconnect.

getting to sleep in this morning, I stayed up way too late last night watching television.

fresh sheets.

tealights, I lit a half dozen last night while taking a hot bath.

my 16 year-old daughter’s great group of friends, nice kids all.

a bright blue, sunshiny day. Lately these have been few and far between. The sunshine is streaming through the window, and through the prisms I keep on the sill, throwing rainbows on the wall.

The fireplace. Just looking at it warms me right up.

Coffee in the mornings.

Hot tea. Wrapping my fingers around the mug is nice too.

My internet connection. Even though it is very slow dial-up (all that is available in my area), I am very grateful to have it at all.

My lap cat.
