I am really proud of how hard I have worked (even with set backs here and there) to become healthier. I am walking a TON more, trying to hit 10K steps a day, I am eating better/less, and I am trying to take more care in my personal appearance – not for others but for ME. It’s been REALLY hard focusing this much energy on myself (I am a tragic martyr/giver) but I’ve perservered, and it’s been great!

10. I am impressed with my ability to relate and talk to teenagers. As an age which is heralded as second only to the “terrible 2’s” in obstinance and attitude, I get along with a huge percentage of the teens here at the boarding school I work for. I am frequently sought out by “regulars” to the library for advice/gossip/homework help, which makes me feel like – in some small way, I am improving their lives and being a positive adult role model.
11. I love my ability to organize. I don’t always put it into action – my house isn’t labeled and crazy clean – but this organizing skill serves me well when processing books at work, prioritizing tasks, and well…yes, when cleaning my house.
12. I am also proud of my sense of humor. It is off-beat, kitchy, and frequently involves song and dance (literally). I have backed down from my role as “clown” to my group of friends as I have aged and matured, but continue to find everyday things hilarious – and have a knack for making others laugh.
7. I like my ability to proofread, and my tiny bit of OCD when it comes to grammer and punctuation. This served me well in college, and is beneficial to the kids who now ask me to edit/proofread their papers.
8. I like my creativeness. All the time, I get these ideas on how to create new things or repurpose other objects. I just need to work on putting that creativity into action more often.
9. I like my use of dashes in my writing – you’ll notice them more in other posts of mine. I like to imagine it’s a connection I have to my famous namesake – Emily Dickinson.
4. My determination. When I aim to do something, hell or high water isn’t going to stop me.
5. My loyalty. Even though I am loyal to a fault, I like that I don’t “flake out” on people, and would do most anything to help a friend.
6. My teeth. They are super straight (thanks to 4 yrs of braces) and whiter now that I quit smoking.
1. I love my eyes. They are green, and I like how I can play them up with very minimal makeup.
2. I love that I see the best in people. I tend to be very “Pollyanna” in my interactions with people, sometimes (ok, a lot) I get burned, but I think my belief that people are generally good – is a positive attribute.
3. I love that I broke my nailbiting habit. I bit my nails for 25 years – ok well, however long it’s been since I stopped sucking my thumb. Only when I turned 26, and resolved to lower my stress, did I find myself not gnawing at my stubby, ragged fingers for hours on end. Now I have pretty, natural nails, and like to treat myself to a manicure every now and then as a reward. :)
