get over my fear of dentists

I don’t think the fear is gone but at least I’m sticking to a treatment plan.

Had my bottom teeth scaled in December and lived through it.

Has 2 teeth pulled last week and lived through that as well.

Another scaling scheduled for the end of this month for my upper palate…

That should put a stop to this periodontal disease.

I just cancelled the periodontist appointment I had for tomorrow…

never made it to the Periodontist last year.

another tooth had to be pulled last week.

MADE it to the Periodontist this week…. final damages in the $9,000 range…. lots of bone loss and pockets… causing the bacterial infections leading to extractions.

I think I’m going to go for the super dupper scraping, scaling while anesthetized. That should keep this year’s costs under $2,000

If scraping/scaling doesn’t work completely, then next year I’ll think about bone reconstruction et al.

and it nags at me in the back of mind

why do I do this to myself????

I love going to the dentist, I love going to the dentist, I love goint to the dentist…

Maybe a few more reps will help!

The rest of my teeth are healthy; no cavities, just worn fillings.

I need to see a periodontist to bring my gums back to a healthy status… I don’t think it’s going to be a picnic!

Now to make that appointment. I tried last week, right after seeing my dentist; stopped by the Periodontist’s office… but it was a Wednesday – closed.

I have to force myself to do this THIS week.

and it’s for tomorrow morning, bright and early. I’ve already been warned I need periodontal work to save my teeth. Probably because of my smoking over the years.

I’ll see what that entails.

of course, if I could take the regular appointments with that drill thing I may not need to get my teeth pulled out.

So in the fear department; same old, same old.

But next Thursday when I go see the Doctor that extracted my tooth for a follow up I will stop by my regular dentist for an appointment… I think!

will get me there real soon.

and the fear is still winning…

I haven’t been in 4+ years.

I don’t think I’ll need major work done… nothing hurts.

But I hate even the cleanings. They tried to get me to switch to that new method with the machine, but I can’t. It’s the noise that gets me. I like the old fashioned way with the tools even though I’m sure it takes longer.
