13.) Toxin [Character, Comics]

Toxin is an antihero in the Marvel Comics universe. He is the third major symbiote which is a living alien organism that bonds with a living organism (esp. human) to sustain.

Carnage is his father while Venom is his grandfather. Venom named Toxin and aspired him to be his partners while Carnage wanted to murder his symbiote spawn as soon as he was nascence but he felt too weak. Toxin found a human host to live with—Patrick Mulligan.

...There is a melancholy result of this bond though—Patrick had to walk out on his wife and child (new born son) without any explanation while his wife was crying hysterically. Because Patrick is devoted to trying to live an honorable life of virtue [he was previously a policeman] Toxin struggles between his symbiote nature of vehement and destructive behavior while attempting to utilize his abilities for good.

There is a six issue Toxin mini-series. He has superior abilties compared to both Venom and Carnage.

08.] Acupuncture [K. suggested it.]

01.] One of the oldest, most commonly used medical procedures in the world. [More than 2,000 years ago—originated in China]

02.] Most studied scientifically technique involves penetrating the skin with thin, solid, metallic needles that are manipulated by hands/electrical stimulation.

03.] “It is proposed that acupuncture produces its effects through regulating the nervous system, thus aiding the activity of pain-killing biochemicals such as endorphins and immune system cells at specific sites in the body. In addition, studies have shown that acupuncture may alter brain chemistry by changing the release of neurotransmitters & neurohormones and, thus, affecting the parts of the central nervous system related to sensation and involuntary body functions, such as immune reactions and processes that regulate a person’s blood pressure, blood flow, & body temperature.”

I saw a goal about becoming a Reiki master…

Reiki is a Japanese form of healing that is becoming increasingly popular worldwide.

What makes Reiki unique is that it incorporates elements of just about every other alternative healing practices such as spiritual healing, _ auras_, crystals, chakra balancing, meditation, aromatherapy, naturopathy, and homeopathy.

Reiki involves the transfer of energy from practitioner to patient to enhance the body’s natural ability to heal itself through the balancing of energy. Reiki utilizes specific techniques for restoring and balancing the natural life force energy within the body.

A holistic, natural, hands-on energy healing system touches on all levels body, mind, and spirit. Reiki energy has several basic effects: it brings about deep relaxation, destroys energy blockages, detoxifies the system, provides new vitality in the form of healing universal life energy, and increases the vibrational frequency of the body. Reiki practitioners channel energy in a particular pattern to heal and harmonize.

In Reiki, the healer [sends out energy] places the hands above the recipient & the recipient that draws the energy as needed. Individual being healed takes an active part in the healing process as opposed to having a passive part in spiritual healing.

—Seeks to restore vital energy that has become unbalanced [healing therapies are based on premise of human energy field—unlike Reiki]

Abstract Thinking

M. C. Escher’s Art—I began trying to learn about abstract thinking and stumbled upon his work. Lately, I have been noticing more mathematics & fine art combined, which is quite interesting. I do not feel too confident about my comprehension of abstract thinking so far.

“Thinking outside the box”“Not taking things too literally”

“Thinking characterized by the ability to use concepts and to make and understand generalizations, such as of the properties or pattern shared by a variety of specific items or events.”

Abstract, adjective
01.] Considered apart from concrete existence
02.] Not applied or practical; *theoretical*

Abstract thinking—people who theorized quark stars and black/white holes were thinking abstractly because those to things are theoretical and we do not know that they actually exist.

Abstraction, noun
02.] Exclusive mental concentration; absent-mindedness
04.] The selection of a certain aspect of a concept from the whole

Alice in wonderland—Mad hatter, so…like thinking laterally such as the people who create those cartoons because thinking about how cool it would be it “clean” your brain with oh say bleach is abstract thinking which is good cartoon-mkaing like things as well as getting your creative juices flowing.

Okay. That is as much as I understand it. >/ Good enough? Care to elucidate?

Learned -- Today.

02.] How Bread [Technology] Works

03.] I learned about all the different Homeschooling approaches [methods] & ten important things about Homeschooling. There were some interesting methods.

04.] Everything about Organic Food—what it is, farming, pros & cons, laws & regulations, effects certain pesticides have on people & animals, differences between organic & conventional, benefits, reasons for pricing, and criticism.

05.] Milk—many facts. Then I read about human milk.

Luminol -- Info

Basically

Much of crime scene investigation [criminalistics] is based on the notion that nothing vanishes without a trace—particularly true of violent crime victims. Without some heavy duty cleaning chemicals some evidence will remain. Tiny particles of blood will cling to most surfaces for years & years, without anyone ever knowing they are there.

The basic idea of luminol is to reveal these traces with a light-producing chemical reaction between several chemicals & hemoglobin, an oxygen-carrying proteinin the blood. The molecules break down and the atoms rearrange to form different molecules.

The molecules get rid of the extra energy in the form of visible light photons. This process, generally known as chemiluminescence, is the same phenomenon that makes fireflies& light sticks glow.

Chemical Reactions

The “central” chemical in this reaction is luminol (C8H7O3N3), a powdery compound made up of nitrogen, hydrogen, oxygen, & carbon. Criminalists mix the luminol powder with a liquid containing hydrogen peroxide (H2O2), a hydroxide (OH-) and other chemicals, and pour the liquid into a spray bottle. The hydrogen peroxide *and the luminol are actually the principal players in the chemical reaction, but in order to produce a strong glow, they need a *catalyst to accelerate the process. The mixture is actually detecting the presence of such a catalyst, in this case the iron in hemoglobin.

Spray to Execute

Investigators may use other chemiluminescent chemicals, such as fluorescein, instead of luminol. These chemicals work the same basic way, but the procedure is a little bit different.
