Getting there.....I think 14 months ago

so much stuff thrown out, so much still do go…WHERE does it all come from. Some of the things are such a struggle to release, and yet when they are gone, I don’t miss them, in fact there is a feeling of lightness as I let go of the mental clutter associated with them as well as the physical objects.

It’s slow, but I am recording each item as it goes, so I can see progress that way….in groups of 43, naturally.

It was relatively easy to send my wedding dress up to the local charity shop, but so far proving impossible to donate two posters I had on my bedroom wall as a teenager….....

Sooo nearly there now 23 months ago

I can almost see it!!

Home from a long weekend 2 years ago

in London yesterday and…oh joy….for the very first time I could SEE the difference in my house.

Just nine days to go, which is perfect for a last determined effort – having the deadline looming is very motivating!

WAH 2 years ago

HOW is there only 22 days left…....must focus…...

You guessed it! 2 years ago

two black sacks gone to local charity shop…...I am probably single handedly supplying their entire stock at this stage. And a bag of books.

Another carrier bag of stuff belonging to a friend gone back to them.

The clutter is starting to dissolve into individual items rather than a huge all-encompassing mass….....

I should have been writing an assigment 2 years ago

for college this weekend…...so of course I didn’t do that but I did get stuck in to the decluttering again….procrastination is GREAT for my clutter tackling….felt a bit giddy this morning when I opened the doors on the box room and the study, just to SEE the effect of all my work this weekend – I mean, it’s still crazy in there, but there is an order emerging…and you can see FLOOR….and desk surface….it’s wonderful….

Where I have been going wrong with this is not allocating enough time – it took most of the weekend to get stuck in to those two rooms…half an hour here and there (which is all I have been managing) doesn’t produce enough of a result to be encouraging…..

Charity shops opened 2 years ago

after the Christmas break on Saturday morning at 10.00am.
I was there at 10.15…...one trip, two trips, three trips later I was lighter by 5 bags of stuff and a large wraught iron candlestick.

I have another two small bags to go to a local animal charity.

I keep thinking I am coming to the end of the clutter I need to let go of, but really all I have done is unearthed the next layer down…..

Just waiting 2 years ago

for the Charity shops to re-open after the Christmas Break…......

Aaaaaaaaaand..... you've guessed it 3 years ago

another two black sacks off to the local charity shop.

Not full this time, but heavy – mostly delf and ornaments.

I also dismantled a butchers block I thought I could not manage without in the kitchen (it fairly reeked of cat too… Kizzies bed has bee on top of it for ages….) and put all the pieces in the wheelie bin.

And I tackled a bastion of messiness in the most cluttered room in the house – the large desk drawer in the study. I did kinda break the handle of the drawer while I was hauling things back and forth but hopefully it can be fixed. And I threw out a load of stuff, including some woeful ‘art’ of my own that I have no idea why I was keeping.

Getting a little concerned about Christmas…. don’t want to be left with all this disorder, and just throw a few strands of tinsel over all like I did last year.

Two more 3 years ago

black sacks, and a small tapestry bag full of stuff, up to my local charity shop on Saturday. The guy behind the counter ran to open the door for me, and gave me a big smile – he knows me on sight. :-)
