Cultivate and Celebrate Serendipity!

So, in July, had traffic school class and mentioned I was in a band. The reasoning was related to my speeding ticket. Matthew, also in a band, overheard this and took note of my name on the signup list. Matthew sent me a note, via MySpace, and we, officially met, and shared band information. Our two bands played together last Thursday night.

So, I see this woman at the Children’s Discovery Museum about 3 weeks ago. She called me, by name, and when I looked over at her, I said “Hi, how are you?” She said, “Good, how are you?” I said “Great!” and then I had to chase after Keaton. While I was leaving I thought – Who was that? I couldn’t think of who that could be. I know she looked familiar but, at the same time, I just couldn’t place her name. I had this very sweet vibe, however, thinking of her so I knew it was someone I liked.

This Tuesday I am having lunch with my friend, Emily, and we start talking about acting classes Keaton is taking. Emily asks if the classes are with Kymberly Harris. I said, yes and I go on to ask her if she knows Kymberly. She said she didn’t, however, Kymberly was good friends with Lori Craig. Oh, Lori! Lori was the woman who said hello to me at the Children’s Discovery Museum. So, interesting, to me, how that was realized. It was very indirect but still, it came around. Lori is great. I used to work with her, about 2 or 3 years ago on a project.

So, I thought about Alan Ruck last week, basically, because, I think, Ira Glass, looks like him. I was reminded of him while watching Ira Glass on This American Life. I have a fondness for Alan Ruck and have now for a long time. I wrote about Alan Ruck on Tuesday of last week stating that I missed him. Strangely enough, he shows up in movie, The Happening. He is in the movie for about 3 minutes or so and plays a character referenced as “The Principal” still…it was very cool to see him so soon. I cheered as quietly as possible and I still got a Shhhh…from the guy sitting next to me as he asked me to keep it down. Wow.

So, about a month ago, I talked with Eric about looking for fun upcoming events for the weekend of June 13th. I said, for example, a Tom Petty concert in Boston or something…choosing a random artist and a random city that is somewhere other than where I live. He mentioned he would check on things…

I talked to Eric today and he said, this is weird, remember when you asked me to check for concerts and things for the weekend of June 13th and you gave me an example of Tom Petty in Boston…well, Tom Petty is coincidentally playing in Boston on June 13th!

Out to dinner tonight – the server and Keaton both share the same birthday and were both having birthday parties on Saturday

Lisa, Angie, Andi and I went to the 10-Minute Play Festival to see 8 plays, all 10-minutes in length and all with the theme of “One Shoe.” After dropping off Andi and Angie at home, Lisa and I were driving together and saw one solitary shoe on the side of the road.

So, this might be stretching things a little…but, I was enjoying a particular scene on Scrubs involving the song, “Safety Dance” as performed by Turk. There is a closing line, by Elliott, referencing the song, “Der Kommissar.” I found this clip on You Tube – and when I am finished watching it I wander back upstairs to my room where the radio was left on and the song, “Der Kommissar” is playing.

On Monday, I was talking about keeping my laptop keys and desk keys in one place. Another co-worker overheard and showed us her keychain. It was a blue metal heart and she had all of her keys on it.

On Thursday, I walked back from lunch and a bunch of people were talking about a set of keys someone left behind while signing a baby shower card. They looked very puzzled and I said ‘Pam’s keys’

Cora thanked me and headed over to return them to Pam.
