Martin

So happy to have been able to become friends with Martin. Besides his impeccable taste in music, :) he is also very sweet and kind. I look forward to reading his commentary on pop culture and sharing my thoughts with him.

Matt

So, I’ve felt incredibly lucky to befriend Matt through this website. He is selfless, funny, and has a unique way of making me smile when, it seems, I often need it the most. It is quite amazing the way I feel like I’ve known him for many years. He is such a thoughtful person and I’m happy our paths crossed.

Jared

So, through the years of going in and out of his record store, I didn’t talk to Jared very much. For the most part, it was just to buy music and maybe some small talk. One morning, however, we started this conversation about music that was exciting and fun. I remember he played The Shins first album and Rilo Kiley’s second album for me and recommended Elliott Smith. We’ve become friends and he has been a great person to get to know. There are plans for our bands to play together and I hope that works out soon.

Greg

I worked with Greg, for a while, and I feel as if I became good friends with him in a very short amount of time. He is overdoses me with compliments and has such a fantastic perspective on things. I ran into him at work on Monday and, out of nowhere, he says he has to give me a hug because he hasn’t seen me in a while. I just think he is such a sweet person and I always enjoy talking with him.

Stephanie

I had a couple of fun days with Stephanie. I’ve been friends with her for many, many years now. She is hilarious. I admire her quick wit and fantastic sense of humor. She is so dependable. If Stephanie says she is going to do something or be somewhere, she is. It is rare if something falls through with her. She is always willing to help me with things – band things, party things, just about anything I’ve ever asked her to help with…she doesn’t hesitate. I love going out to eat with her. Snacks, lunch, dinner, anything…we both love food and enjoy talking about it and enjoying it. I don’t ever feel like I am saying the wrong thing around her and I’m never embarrassed about comments I make or anything close because I feel that comfy around her to just be myself.

Jim

Alright, it has been a while since I’ve written about my favorite people. This entry is for Jim. I’ve worked with Jim for over 6 months now. He has been the best. I remember being sick and he sent me a text message to check on me and then sent room numbers for meetings I had for the next day. He is always up for an ice cream run and he’ll carry my laptop bag and belongings without a request. He has brought in breakfast for me, helped me with work-related things, and has a knack for making me laugh when I am not feeling my best.

John

I started working with John, about 6 months ago. He became more involved with the same work I do, probably 4 months ago or less, and I have been able to get to know him so much better. He is so helpful and he will do just about anything that eases stress or takes work off of my list of things to do. I appreciate his help so much and his knowledge as well. We have specialized in different parts of the same program at work and it is great to be able to share what we know about such diverse topics. He also knows how to have a good time and has the best stories to tell. He has a tendency to never fail making me smile about something as well. Either a joke where I am totally setup for laughing or silly instant messages to ensure I am not taking work or anything, really, too seriously. He has picked up on things I like and bringing, for example, Pellegrino to work or Orange Soda or whatever thing I’m talking about on a consistent basis. I appreciate the attention to detail and just the steps he takes to be a good trusted friend to me.

Tim and Arie

My brother, Tim, and his wife, Arie, are, for certain, two of my favorite people. I really couldn’t ask for a better brother than the one I have in mine. He is totally selfless, genuine, and loving. My brother takes time for me. I can laugh with him and we can identify with each other’s quirky behavior too well. My brother asked me to go to London with him in 1997, I think, that is when I knew he was not most siblings as he could’ve taken anyone with him but he chose me. I think the world of him…wonderful guy.

My sis-in-law, Arie, is the perfect match for him. I knew, from the moment I met her, I liked her so very much and I was excited to know she would be a part of my family. I think of her like a sister and I trust in her so very much.

Eric

I remember first meeting Eric at my first band’s last show. We played at Lunker’s, a small local bar, and the place was packed. In the front, right by us, there were two guys. One was Eric, wearing a Magnetic Fields tshirt, if I remember correctly, and one was Steve. I had no idea who they were but, they became my favorite people very quickly as I could tell they were having a lot of fun at the show and it was great to feel that energy that night. Later, I met Eric and Steve and found out they knew the bass player in my band. Even later than that, Eric joined a new band with me and we have been writing music together and playing together in the new band ever since.

Eric is a very talented guitar player, songwriter, and vocalist. He is also quite hilarious and makes everyone laugh at practice during one point or another. He was also my guitar instructor for a while and helped me get started and learn how to play. I wrote several songs for the band based on the guitar lessons Eric gave to me. Just a very cool guy, dad to Audrey, husband to Angie and good friend to me.

Kevin

I’ve known Kevin for over two years now. It is the strangest thing, at times, how you meet people. I remember talking to Kathi and Julie, at work, about my band and how we needed a drummer. I really didn’t know Kathi very well at all. This was, probably, the second or third time I had ever talked with her. Kathi mentioned her nephew, Kevin, was a drummer. He was currently in a band but might want to play with another band. I remember calling Kevin and leaving some voicemails for him asking if he would like to talk about being a drummer for my band. He agreed to come out and see us perform at an open mic night. From that point, we stayed in touch and he has been a drummer in the band now for over two years.

Kevin is such a great talent. He is an excellent drummer and I am constantly amazed at his skills. I am happy I have been fortunate enough to become his friend and to get to know him better since we met. Not only is he the cutest of the cute but he is also a really great person. He is so generous with his time and his talent, lending both to my two bands and also being so cool about both bands hanging out, practicing, and recording in his studio.
