learn to play the violin

I bought some more accessories for violin. Wood silencer and Shoulder rest.

Silencer was cheap, but it is good (as one musician that I know told me) and I need it to be able to play in the night when everyone else sleep. It`s made from ebony wood. At first I was in shock, because mute didn`t went all the way to the end of Bridge, but then I was told that it don`t need to go all the way down.

Can`t say much about shoulder rest, it`s simple and basic, I just have some difficulties to set it so it feel comfortable on me.

I recently bought new smartphone and it allows to get app called gStrings Free which is audio tuner. With it I can finally tune violin that I have borrowed from friend.
It took while for me to understand how it works, but then it went pretty easy, and with help of fine tuners on violin I now have more or less pure tones on open strings.

Next step is to learn all finger positions and try some simple music (which will be Latvian folk dance music).
