Bloodline—chapter1

A loud bang in the distance rudely awoke me, making me jump and then huddle into a protective ball before realising what it was. I peered out of a gap in the corrogated iron wall, night-time. I could finally get some food.
Glancing around the door of the warehouse. I checked if the coast was clear, it wasn’t. A group of teens were heading straight towards me. I was trapped. Running into the darkest corner of the warehouse, i closed my eyes and silently hoped it would hide me.
As they walked past they chucked empty beercans into the warehouse, leaving me safe. Part of me wanted to go talk to them, i had never talked to any other human except my parents; in fact i had never met any other humans except them.
It was around eleven before i found a decent meal, a family had left their window open and on the counter lay a leftover meal. I silently grabbed the plate and cleared it, before silently laying it back on the counter. I didn’t want to resort to stealing food, but it was my only chance of survival.
GGGRRRIIINNDD!!! My heart stopped, i turned around and to my horror a surveilance camera had gotten god-knows how many pictures of me whilst i was eating. I quickly made my way back to the warehouse, my chest tightened with fear. The alleyway seemed quieter, different. I turned around trying to pick up the scent of my usual trail but i couldn’t find it. I cried out, i was so frightened, so distraught i must of gone the wrong way. I cried out again, but instead of a cry; a loud howl was sent reverberating through the narrow maze of alleys. People began to turn on their lights, my howl had awoken them.
Crouching on all fours i acted like a dog, luckily the tired people fell for it and just shouted at me, mainly about a “damn dog”. I held back my fit of giggles and let the adrenaline rush take hold, hoping it would lead me home. Finally, YES! I’d found it, on the east wind the faint smell of my old trail. I smiled releaved and began the journey “home”.
Bang! I was rudely awoken yet again, but this time it was closer. I peered outside, still daytime. I sighed, boredom had kicked in. I still had at least seven hours left until i could i could leave the warehouse.
Suddenly, voices echoed through the alley.
“Did you hear about the werewolf sighting around this area?” a female voice chirped intrested.
“werewolf? You don’t beleive in things like that do you?”a male answered
“but the had video evidence and pictures!” she protested
“yea, but any nerd can edit those on computer programs”
“True, its nice to imagine though..”
“Why? Would you want a werewolf in your neighborhood? Killing people, destroying things. Man. If i saw one i’d grab the nearest sharp obect and KILL it”
I gulped nervously, if he found me he wouldn’t spare my life.
Then a third voice joined them, “Give me your money and i just might not kill you” a gruff male voice growled.
“Take our money, just please dont hurt us!” the female cried, the sound of coins clattering the floor filled the air.
” You stupid woman! I need that money! Thats it!” shouted the gruff male, shing! A blade had been pulled out of its case.
I had to do something, these people would die otherwise. I sneaked out of the warehouse and hid in the shadows. The gruff man was ready to kill them, i couldn’t let this happen.
I was now close enough to reach him.
“Time to die!” he smiled malisciously.
“NO!” i screamed, kicking his legs out from beneathe him. He landed on the floor with a thump, out cold.
I WAS too late, the man had been stabbed in the shoulder. The woman cried as i lifter him, pounding my stomache with her fists.
“LEAVE HIM ALONE YOU MONSTER!!” she cried.
” I’m TRYING to help!” i growled.
She stood shocked for a few seconds, i couldn’t tell whether it was because i spoke or because i was helping or even both.
“Come on then!” i shouted back to her to snap her out of it.
“Leave, me, alone…” The man in my arms winced.
“It’s trying to help.” the women smailed clutching his hand.
“she – not IT” i growled.
“sorry” she smiled
I reached the end of the alley, “I can’t go out there, you’ll have to run to the hospital a couple of doors down” i sighed laying him on the ground before walking away.
“Do you want anything in return?” she smiled.
I turned around “yea, see that warehouse where the man attacked you. Can you occasionally drop some food off there? im tired of scavenging”
“Meat right?”
Glaring at her i answered “no, i eat the same things you eat”
“oh sorry.” she smiled before we both walked in opposite directions.

Prologue. 15 months ago

Heres the prologue to my first fantasy story- Bloodline.

“You can’t keep doing this!” my mother cried. “she’s our daughter, we can’t keep her locked in the house!”
“She’s a freak, a monster! she’s lucky she even has a home!” my father growled.
“Thats our daughter you’re talking about!” she screamed protectivly.
“She’s a werewolf, a monster!”
I cried silently in my room, my dad hated what i was. I had been given this curse by his families blood anyway, although lucky for him it skipped his generation. I was’nt like a storybook werewolf, not human by day werewolf by night. I had to suffer as a werewolf all the time, forced to hide from others.
My dad slowly opened my door and crept in, “Hi moonlight, do you need anything hunni?”
He always acted nice around me, he was afraid of me. But who would’nt be, a black mythical monster with incandescent silver eyes.
“Don’t you dare act nice to me!” I growled “you were just calling me a monster, and now you act nice?” I stood up and approached him.
He fell over, avoiding getting close to me, he could’nt even speak.
“n-now moonlight, hunni, don’t d-do anything you would re-regret!”
I narrowed my eyes into a dark glare, “I would’nt regret it…” I snarled walking towards him threateningly, leaving him squirming on the floor helpless. Then stepped over him, I would’nt prove him right. I am not a monster.
“I’m leaving!” I shouted back to him.
“You can’t!” my mother creid from downstairs.
“Yea” growled my dad, knowing I would’nt hurt him. “because freaks like you end up in circuses or on a lab table because THAT’S where you belong.”
Clenching my fists i went back to my room, tears cascading down my fur. I began packing my bag , my mum begging me to stay the entire time. I only owned a few things so it did’nt take long.
“please, don’t leave.” my mum cried.
“I’m sorry, I have to. I can’t handle this anymore.” I sighed.
My dad then stumbled to my doorway a bottle of beer in his hands, “Don’t forget to take some raw meat.” my dad snickered “Thats what you monsters eat is’nt it?”
I eat what humans eat, and he knew it. Pushing past him I looked into his hatred filled eyes. “I am NOT a monster, YOU are…”
Once I left the house I had to stay in the shadows. My dad was right about one thing, where i’d end up if I was seen. After a few hours walk I finally reached the slums of the city, I wandered around the alleyways looking for a place to sleep.
It took hours before I found a suitable warehouse on the edge of the city, but once I did I huddled in a cold, dusty corner. Awaiting the next night.
