I am not religious, but I have a lot of respect for all religions. I think the concepts in religions do a lot of good in the world, as well as bad. Ill talk about the good.
In Christianity, people pray to God. This is a lot like keeping a journal, because you can sort through your day or week and various thoughts, and come to some conclusions about how to respond to what life throws at you. God is also like a child’s teddy bear. Most children had a stuffed animal or a blanket or something that made them feel safe and comforted them even though the stuffed animal was well.. stuffed.. and didn’t actually ward off robbers or monsters under the bed.
Well, even if God is not real, if someone believes in God, the idea of him can give them strength. And perhaps he is real, I don’t know. Praying is also like meditation, its relaxing and calming and most people tend to feel better after they pray.
I also believe that your future happens twice. Once in you thought, and once in the real world. I think when we focus on something, the chances of it increasing go up dramatically. Praying about your future or life allows you to think about it, and ways to fix it.
God is also like a friend to talk to. One thats all knowing, all powerful, and invincible.
Well, for all of these reasons, and others I have forgotten, and still others I don’t know about that other people do (perhaps that God is real for all I know) I really like the concept of prayer, and I almost wished I believed in God. But I don’t. But I do want to pray. SO Ill pray to the universe in an abstract sense. I my actually say “dear universe…” I am not sure. We will see.
