So the next, realisitc, 5K I could run is in November if I remember correctly, and it’s the Arcadia Pride run I did last year…the one that pissed me off so much because I thought for sure I was gonna break this record, and instead I didn’t even beat my PR. Dang it. Anyway, if I REALLY want to, it’s more than enough time to break 30m if I start on May 5 or thereabouts.

This is probably gonna have to wait till next season. But there’s no reason not to pick up training over the summer. At like, 5 in the morning. Slowly.

This is new for me: For the first time in my life, I am going to sign up for two 5k’s that I ran this time last year. So that way I’ve got two goals: Beat last year’s time and compare, and/or break my 30 minute barrier. Hopefully I will run for 30 minutes today after work before we have to go pick up lumber for the show.

Mitch still wants to keep running, so I think – when I find another race that’s not too far from here – I’ll see if he wants to sign up and go for it. Never had a running partner, but it would be a cool thing to do with Mitch. I covered 26 miles – I can bust 30 minutes!

Tonight: Dinner at Rome’s. Mmm. Baked pasta goodness. (No sausage! Too Spicy! Bad news! You listen Short Round, you live longer!)
Tomorrow: MUST get up earlier to eat. Eating 30 minutes before running = bad idea. Race starts at 8, so try to be up by 6 to have breakfast.
Walked 10 miles the other day; sore at bottom of legs, but shins and knee were good; I think if I push just a little, I can meet this goal tomorrow.

BLEGH! Thirty-four minutes and some-odd seconds. I think I didn’t wake up early enough to really warm up well (it was a Sunday morning, and I usually run in the afternoon); the cereal wasn’t a good choice for breakfast; my shins still hurt; and I need to work harder on my cardio.
Got another in two weeks, on a flatter course. Hopefully that will go more smoothly now that I’ve learned some more.

Two 5K races coming up as I “train” (AHAHAHHA!) for the marathon in January.
I am f’ing crazy. Possibly stupid.
But if…IF…I finish it….
In any case; I want to bust this 30 minute mark on the next race. it’ll be my third zoo race, so I know the course.

Ran my third 5k in 31:50 chip time, 33:21 gun time. I didn’t think I’d be that fast, but that means I could break my 30 min. goal pretty darn soon. Sweet. And encouraging because my personal timer was 31:55, so that means my previous races have been pretty accurate in their times.
