So I came to Edmonton three weeks ago, stuck at 175. In those three weeks, I’ve dropped five lbs. Go me.

The South Beach diet required far too much willpower for me. Plus I went up two pounds in the first few days. I don’t eat that many eggs or that much meat in my normal diet! And I’ve dropped four pounds since I STOPPED the South Beach Diet. Hmm….
So yeah. Started after the South Beach (about two weeks ago) at 179, almost 180, and am down to 175 now. Feel much better about what I’m eating, trying to just focus on dumping junk from my diet and planning on getting hardcore into exercise in the next couple of weeks. I want a treadmill/ecliptical darn it!
Planning on taking a Pilates class soon too.
Holy… shit.
Do you know how much food has starch and sugar in it? I’m going to seriously need to expand my tastes if I’m going to survive the next two – three weeks. I was shocked at everything I looked at today.
Breakfast:
One scrambled egg w/ cheese and rosmary, two slices low fat turkey bacon
Lunch:
Blackened chicken ceaser salad grilled (no croutons), one glass pinapple juice (yes it’s a sugar, but I was supposed to get tattooed today and that is a very unpleasant experience if you don’t have any sugar in your system. I picked a healthy sugar at least)
Snack:
Rest of chicken from salad (2 slices), 2 slices cheese
Dinner:
Chicken al a King w/o flour (waaay too salty without the flour)
I’m doing ok so far, but I’m worried my diet is going to be very bland for the next two weeks. And we have the most amazing looking grapes in the fridge right now sob
So I’ve decided that doing this on my own is going to be a little more difficult than I thought. I’ve been following the progress of a friend of mine (Lucrezea) on the South Beach diet and I’m rather encouraged by her efforts. The book is only ten dollars at Chapters, so I think I’m going to go pick it up today and give it a shot.
Wish me luck.
Today was a good day. I purchased new containers for lunches (see “Become more earth friendly” goal) and went grocery shopping. We got TONS of awesome healthy food – whole wheat bread, granola, mangoes and strawberries, organic cereal (sooooo good, my Dad introduced me to it this weekend), lactose free milk (I’m lactose intolerant) as well as all sorts of other yummy HEALTHY treats.
I’m really proud of the food decisions I made today. We didn’t even go down the junk food aisle. There’s a novel concept – if you don’t want to eat it, don’t freaking buy it! Lol.
I also did half a set of pilates “hundreds” and twenty crunches as well as a bunch of stretching and a little bit of yoga this evening. I’m back on track. Wish me luck.
I’ve decided to start writing the number “30” on my palm to help keep me on track – I was reading another person’s lose 30 lbs goal and they said they were writing “ltp” to remind themselves every day. So I’m writing a very ornate 30 on my palm whenever it fades to keep myself thinking about my goal every time I look at it.
So I was so proud of myself – I lost two pounds in a few days of eating better, and then the last two/three days I ate crap again and I put on a pound and a half! Gah! I need to get better at focusing on the whole eating better thing which means cries no cheesecake at the show tonight.
I went out to a movie and had popcorn and soda and freaking milk duds and liquor when we got home facepalm Extra huge fails.
Today and from now on I have to behave myself. Obviously the eating healthier thing WAS working, I just need to stay on track.
I did all my stretching today (which is more about other goals) AND was very well behaved in my foodstuffs – a grapefruit for brunch (I woke up late because I had a psych appointment), perogies for dinner, with a freezie for dessert (it’s water and juice, a whooping 100 calories… I don’t really feel too guilty about it). I’m not dieting for this, I’m just trying to eat better and work on exercising more.
I’m starting at 177, with a goal to hit 145 (which technically makes it 32lbs) by October 30th when my sister has her baby.
