acrylic nails

I had some acrylic nails put on over the weekend and I’m really pleased with the result. I went for a natural French manicure look. It’s not something I would do long term though as I couldn’t justify the cost and I know I would get bored with the upkeep – having to go back every few weeks to touch them up. But at the moment my nails look fab! And in the meantime, my real nails are growing underneath.

attempt number ???

I’ve lost count how many attempts I have made to stop biting my nails, but here is another one! I bought some nice natural looking nail polish to wear. I figure that the natural colour won’t look so bad to start with while my nails grow! (Here’s hoping.)

artificial nails - desperate measures!

I put some fake nails on my thumbs last night. I cut them down so they aren’t too long, but still longer than what they were. (That’s not hard!) They look pretty natural actually, so tonight I am going to put the rest of them on. I thought I would try them out since we are going to Switzerland for Christmas to see my partner’s family and I don’t want to have to hide my hands like I often find myself doing.

3 longish nails

Well, it’s been a couple of weeks and I have 3 semi long nails on my left hand but the rest are all bitten. :-(
The longest one is going to break soon because I keep fiddling with it and weakening it. I have to make sure that when it does break that I don’t go back to biting it again. I need to buy a manicure set or something so I can file them and try to keep them strong.

trying again

I have let this one go for 4 months now. It’s time I tried again… sigh…

I bought a large 5 pack of chewing gum to get me through the tough times, and tonight I will put some more of that nail varnish stuff on.

Back to square one

Well, after two weeks, I now have no nails again. But, in my defence, not all of them were bitten off. About 3 or 4 just broke because they got weaker (after I kept playing with them all the time.)

I never said this would be easy.

1 week

It’s been a week since I have bitten my nails. They are getting longer, slowly, but I find myself playing with them a lot. Sometimes I’ll nibble at them but not bite them, other times I will just pick at them. (gross) This is really hard.

Stop biting my nails

I have bitten my nails as long as I can remember. I bite them when I’m bored, nervous, sad, anxious, hungry! I’ve tried to stop biting them in the past. I bought some of that stuff that you put on your nails to stop biting them. It kinda worked for a while, but then I found I would peel that stuff off and start picking at my nails instead of biting them. (Gross!) I’ve still got some of that stuff left, so I’m going to start using it again. Maybe if I chew gum whenever I feel the urge to bite my nails, this would help? I will try.
