find 43 artworks that inspire me

I went to William Wegman’s ‘Family Combinations’ exhibit last weekend. It was great! The photographs he takes of his dogs are both amazing and imaginative! This is one of my favourites.

I came across a free exhibition of Steve Bloom’s photography yesterday in St Andrews Square in Edinburgh. I’d never heard of him before but I recognised a few of his works. Walking around his exhibition really inspired me, and there’s quite a few of his photographs I would like to draw from. Here are a few examples – and more can be found at www.stevebloom.com

I found this image years ago and always thought it was really cool. I like the idea of painting over an image or photography and turning it into something else or giving it a new dimension.

I came across these paintings online. They are amazing and look so realistic!

I don’t know who the artist is, but I really like this style of illustration.

I like how Google often changes the logo on their website to promote a particular event. This one is the 40th anniversary of Sesame Street.

Zdzisław Beksiński was a renowned Polish painter, photographer, and sculptor who is best known as a fantasy artist. Beksiński executed his paintings and drawings either in what he called a ‘Baroque’ or a ‘Gothic’ manner. The first style is dominated by representation, with the best-known examples coming from his ‘fantastic realism’ period when he painted disturbing images of a surrealistic, post-apocalyptic environment. The second style is more abstract, being dominated by form, and is typified by Beksiński’s later paintings. Beksiński was murdered in 2005.
