I need something relatively easy to add to my 43T list. =D I have already memorized most of the lyrics to this song, I just need to practice every day singing the entire song, instead of humming what I do not know. LOL
Sviraj (Lullabye) is an absolutely beautiful song, and it’s meant to be sung in soprano, so it’s easier to sing than many of my favourite songs. My children love this one, and it’s mellow enough to be sung to them at night. It’s a very special song to me… sort of my way of singing to my babies whom I never had a chance to sing to sleep. I first found this song after my first miscarriage, and it helped pull me through the grief of both that awful loss and the next.
Music has a way with healing those hurts which cannot be reached in any other way. At least for me. This is a perfect example.
Someday, when I have gotten my voice back to where it used to be, I would love to sing in the UTSA Women’s Choir. I think that Sviraj will be the song I will use for auditions, only I would prefer to sing it in the original Croation. If I cannot memorize it in Croation in a decent amount of time, I will either sing it in English or sing Arianna instead, which I have memorized already. But that’s another goal for a later date. One thing at a time. =)
Sviraj is a hauntingly beautiful and sad song that truly represents the loss that anybody who has lost a child has felt. It is my song of healing, rememberance, and joy at knowing I will finally see my babies someday. For now, I am content to sing my children, who I am blessed to have here with me, to sleep with it.
Insh’allah I can mark this off of my list soon. I figure that if I can sing it a cappella on three seperate days, at arbitrary times (instead of having just listened to it) during the day or night, I have done it. Not only will I know the song, but I will be exuberant to actually mark something on this list as completed! =D
