Wow!! I did not wobble and wave my arms around like I was going to fall today! I actually skated more than half the rink at a time. In fact, I actually was skating more than stopping today!
Only bad thing, this 15-16 year old kid that was skating really fast right when I started and still skating really slow, tried to avoid hitting me as he tried to get around me and another girl. He lifted up his skate and banged his ankle and proceeded to go slamming into the wall. I felt horrible. They stopped everyone from skating and got him to ice his ankle. It was pretty heartbreaking to see him on the side nooks in obvious pain. When he was by himself, I got the guts to go up to him and tell him thank you and that I was sorry he had gotten hurt for trying to avoid crashing into me. I’m a praying girl, so I let him know I’d be praying for him to get better quickly. He smiled as best he could despite his pain.
Despite this mishap, I managed to be able to skate and look back and around me. I was able to do some turns. By turns I mean get around the bend in the rink! I still can’t do a crossover with both feet, only with my right. But I figure I’ll get to it next week. Oh, and I also learned how to stop! By not crashing into a wall! T-stops coming up soon! I can feel it!
Wish me luck!
