I found this fun stretch cotton at an online fabric store. It’s plaid on both sides with silvery flowers printed on one side. It made me want to make a little jumper. Then again, I get jumpy about buying fabric online, it’s often not the color/texture/quality I imagined. What does my online panel of celebrity fashion judges think?
Fabu, or just ”... meh” ? And if I did make it, what would I wear it with? Turtleneck and tights, but will it be a pain to find coordinating colors?
I’ve got too many projects going on to waste my time on boring ones or things I won’t wear.

to make a dress for work. It will be my first garment ever. Now, what color should it be?

I have a basic tank top pattern that I’ll have to alter to make it like this in the back.

That’s going to be a huge step forward for this goal.

My mom has tons of crazy old patterns from the 60s and 70s and 80s. I wonder if I could give them a modern twist and make some interesting pieces.

Time to move on up to something else. Possibly arm-warmers. I am really trying to pace myself and do easy things at first, rather than biting off more than I can chew (like I usually do) and getting frustrated.

More wearable than the last pair, but I’m still clearly not ready to move up to outerwear.
Here’s the an entry I made about them on my sewing community site.

I didn’t end up loving the cut, once I got them done. Will make some adjustments to the pattern and try again.
Still, I think having completed the first mostly-wearable (if you don’t mind the constant wedgies) garment I have ever made is quite an accomplishment. I have barely used a sewing machine since junior high home economics class! (Well, I guess I made some lopsided stilting pants a few years back, but that’s it.)
I am trying to train myself to sometimes be a person who reads and follows directions, at least until my sewing instinct has time to develop.
I wouldn’t call them Sacred Underwear though, so that goal I gave up on a while back still hasn’t been completed.
For more info and a photo, check out the entry I made about them on my sewing community site.
