He’s at an interview right now, wearing the slick new suit, looking smooth and qualified, speaking articulately about his impressive skills and priceless experience, making the interviewer feel all warm and glowy inside because she knows she’s found the perfect candidate, and she’s glad they just got a big budget appropriation for this position because now she can offer him a salary he’ll feel good about taking.

Last week’s bout of career despair led to a week of illness and insomnia. He’s pretty much back to normal now, but I think he might need a hand getting moving on the career front again.

A bout of career despair has set in. I know it happens to the best of us (when something that sounded so great isn’t what you’d hoped, or it is but it only pays peanuts).

Now’s my chance to step it up!

All our work last weekend paid off! We’ll see how the phone interviews go. He’s worried, but he doesn’t need to be. Maybe we can practice or think of answers to the hard questions this weekend so he will feel more confident going into it.

Oh, and it’s time to buy that suit.

But I will be cooking tonight, like several nights lately, because there are just so many interesting openings for him to apply for, and he needs to spend his evening time preparing his application materials. It feels good for me to help this way, and I am very grateful that he is finding openings he is interested in applying for!

I don’t know why, maybe I didn’t want to seem too pushy or something. But lately it seems that he has appreciated my help with his resumes and cover letters (not to mention help finding a suit for the interview).

It feels nice, like something that wasn’t working in our partnership before is working now, and it’s so much better for both of us.
