is closely tied to my sleep goal and food gournal goal. Just won’t happen unless I get those two things under control



Have let the first four months

of the year slip away. I just like to eat too much. Well, May is going to be different. My aunt tells me I should consider weight loss an emergency. She’s right, no doubt.



I've entered

a weight loss contest at work. Some 30 of us paid $20 to enter. The winner will have lost the the highest percentage of their weight, by May 27, Memorial Day. Many if not all those I’m competing against are in much better shape than I am. So I have a decent shot at winning, if I can just stay motivated to exercise daily and not give in to the temptation to snack in the evenings. This should be easy, but of course it’s been terribly difficult for me over the last several years. It seems odd, since by and large I’m more active and happier at a lesser weight.



Did the stationary bike

for about 35 minutes Friday, Sat & Sunday, despite having a nagging head cold and a painfully pulled muscle along my ribs. Need to start weighing in daily and getting kind of obsessed if I’m going to lose weight.

Did the stationary bike for 32 minutes and worked up a good sweat.
Walked the dogs for 20 minutes in the cold. They seemed to enjoy that more than I did.

about a mile and a half, but that was about it for yesterday, other than the usual mile I walk in the course of a day getting to and fro in our headquarters building. Not good.

on stationary bike last night and still managed to take the dogs for their walk and refrained from snacking after 10 pm, even though I really wanted to and could hardly withstand the persistent evil voice in the back of my head explaining just what I needed to do to acquire all the salty sugary preservative-laden chemical-infused junk food necessary to make me happy.



To get me to go to sleep

at a reasonable hour, I’m installing timers on the the lights and various digital gadgets. After 11:30, we’ll be completely in the dark.



this week

started well, but I didn’t exercise yesterday. Was so far behind on sleep, I thought if I did, I’d just get more run down and probably get sick. Am taking Friday off, so I hope tonight and tomorrow to get good sleep and plenty of exercise.



important week

coming up, last of January.

Worked out on recumbent bike & walked the dogs. Energy level wasn’t great, but about halfway through the bike ride, I got to feeling pretty great. Could have gone longer I think. Will try tonight.
