I dunno what inspired me yesterday 2 years ago

but I smiled just a bit at a couple of people who were turning onto the street I was stopped on…both of them had stern looks on their faces until they saw me…then they immediately smiled too. Nice.

The Cancer Center 2 years ago

I did this at the Cancer Center last week…and people genuinely smiled back…which was just really nice. It’s a horrible place to have to be…a smile there really makes a difference.

I was feeling down for a bit today 2 years ago

but I still made eye contact with people in my small town in South Carolina….and a bunch of people smiled at me…and I smiled back…we even exchanged casual hellos and how are yas…and the smiles made me feel a hell of a lot better. It’s real. It helps. On both sides.

This is easy to do on the coast of Southern Georgia 2 years ago

Saint Simons Island and Jekyll Island….so peaceful, so friendly..everyone there smiled at me FIRST!

ICU again starting tonight 2 years ago

I will smile at people again at the hospital…it has to help. It’s what I can do. Must spread the positive energy there. For whatever it’s worth.

I've been visiting ICU all week 2 years ago

and it’s really amazing how many people smile back at me there…at the hospital…where anybody could be going thru god knows what kind of traumas….I mean, people are actually looking at me and smiling FIRST even. It’s been an interesting experience. I’m glad I could contribute in my small way to some positive energy there at St. Francis Hospital. AND I’m impressed at the positive energy that already exists there. May it continue always.

smiling at strangers 2 years ago

was really fun in a crowded bar last night.

I'm in a crappy mood 2 years ago

but I’ve noticed myself looking at people and smiling all day long even though I’m in a crappy mood. You’d think that it would’ve helped me feel better. But no. It’s weird to vent to the world like this. Another sign of the times…like when we use cell phones as flashlights. Come on, you know you’ve done it!

Mostly I do this 2 years ago

but I think I’d like to remind myself to do this more. O, do you remember when I commented in Hobart about how people didn’t look at each other and smile? When I got back home I realized that we do that a lot here, and I like it.
