A prayer from a guitar novice

Please Lord, if I even try to learn the opening riff of “Stairway to Heaven”, may my eyes be gouged out with light guitar picks, may my left hand fall off, and may my guitar electrocute me in the worst way possible!...grin.

Ok, now calm down everyone. I’m just making a small joke. When I was a kid, if you wanted to get a girl, you had to learn that opening riff on guitar. I guess I’m stubborn, but I’m not gonna learn it! Give me “Angie” or give me “La Bamba”...whichever my playing sounds more like!

Ok....

I’m going to get the old tuner out and make the guitar sound a lot better than it has in a while!

Meeting Mark Knopfler

I would really like to meet Mark Knopfler. Not only did he study guitar with Les Paul, but he is an incredibly motivated musician. He is probably one of the best guitar players on the planet (after Hendrix, Santana and Clapton). I wish that I could be so disiplined to sit for six or eight hours at a time practicing. Well, I guess why he’s where he is, and I’m where I am….sigh.

Songs to learn

I would really like to learn the Rolling Stones’ song “Angie”. I love the song, but I can’t seem to get through the intro….ARrrrrrrg!

Untitled

I made a promise to myself when I was in the hospital that I would learn guitar, but as yet, I’ve not progressed beyond the basics. I would like to improve so that I can express myself musically.
