We have a Saturday Market. Ya know, food, produce, art, crafts, etc. I’m on the steering committee. Today was our weekly meeting and I threw up the suggestion to provide booth space to these two entities. Not free mind you, but for a small commission. I see that aspect as a confidence builder once they start making sales and realize that they ARE paying for it and it’s not just another feel good program.
I’ll be darned….the committee liked it.
So, now off to make some phone calls.

someone at the mission or the various mental facilities will come into the shop to show me their work and ask for display space. There is an amazing amount of talent with these folks, but the shop just isn’t big enough to take more on and much of it is VERY marketable.
I’m getting to know an art therapist and maybe talk to the fella that runs the mission in the hopes that they might approach the committees for the district to do shows or maybe provide a permanent space. I don’t want to run it, just plant the idea that it’s an important voice that needs to be heard and get the folks most involved to get moving. I see an opportunity for confidence building and the potential for financial independence.
