Anything else makes no sense

I stayed in good terms with all my exes minus one. And with one of them we are REAL friends. And 2 days ago I was actually asking him how that thing works in which people can go from having a great, intense relationship fool of common interests and goals to not even want to hear the other’s name. A mystery to me.
