Being a great dad is sort of an amorphous concept, something that’s easy to say but really hard to visualize. But I think, more than anything else, being a great dad is about being fully present for my kids. To be open to them by listening to them, setting boundaries for them and teaching them the lessons of life that I’ve learned along the way.
It’s also vitally important, I believe, that I let them be their own people and appreciate their uniqueness without trying to shape them to my liking. I have two children – 6-year-old Zach and 3-year-old Faith – and they continue to delight and amaze me each and every day.
