Get engaged

I’ve gotten a lot of feed back on this one and I value everyone’s advice. I know I don’t have to spend that much money to make her happy.

I really would like to get engaged, it’s just not responsible for me to spend any largish amount of money on anything at this point until I have my debts taken care of.

That time is coming soon and many things will be coming full circle sooner than I planned, thankfully.

It’s terrible that I did this to my girlfriend, but the engagement fund is pretty much all gone. With going back to school, so went my extra money. I refuse to take out another student loan and spend another almost-8 years to pay it off.

I want to get her something nice, something she deserves and I want to make her happy…but some things have to come before material things.

I just hope she really does understand and isn’t just saying she does so I don’t feel bad.

I was hoping to have enough money by Christmas to get her the ring, but it looks like it’s taking a bit longer.

Unfortunately, I think that late Spring/early Summer is a more realistic time frame.

$2000…or so to go.

I’ve got $800 into savings for her ring.

Another…$2200 at least to go.

We went and looked at a bunch of rings this weekend…I now have a better idea of what she wants.

Now to continue saving.

Every week I’ve been putting away at least $100 for an engagement ring.

I have been putting paying off my debt ahead of this goal, but now I’m thinking if maybe I should speed this goal up.

Every week I pay between $200-$500 for a bill.

Maybe I should be putting $200-$500 away every week just so I can get this out of the way and meet my goal. I wanted to have the engagement ring by our anniversary, which is just after Christmas.

My credit card bills have existed for years and I have paid two of them off completely, leaving me with one which the balance is about $1750.

Next month I will pay another chunk of this credit card bill and then I will start hyper-saving for the ring.

$2700 to go?

Geez, this is going to take awhile at this rate.

I have to save up hyper-speed to make my Christmas deadline.

Well, I officially started saving for the ring this week. I put away $100 into my savings.

Only another $2900 or so to go?

It goes without saying that I need to save up money to get this one done. It also goes without saying that my number one goal is to pay off most of my debt before I CAN save this type of money.

So at least a 1ct princess cut diamond set in a thick white gold band is in my girlfriend’s future…just keep it hush-hush!
