Installed two light switches — 8 months ago
I installed two light switches in my room a few months back. One of the old ones burned out and was totally black. The old switches were not the kind that needed to be grounded, rather the ground wires were pig-tailed.
The new ones are now properly grounded and I feel a little bit safer.
One of the guys that I work with (who is a licensed electrician for Con-Edison) said it was good that I was there when the switch went, because it could have caused a fire with the right conditions.
Phew.
