I kept my eldest home form school today. She went yesterday (but not Monday-still too rundown), and had a great day, but her hands are peeling sooo badly, after scarlet fever, I just wanted to be able to moisturize them on a regular basis. They’re soo gross – but it doesn’t hurt her, and she thinks it’s really cool.
I was away all day at a very boring seminar. My kids screamed really loud when I got home. It was like I’d been away for a week. Perhaps I’m spending too much time with my children???
Spending more on the floor time with them – which I did a fair bit in the first place, but obviously, I thought I could do more. Nest up, I think I’d like to take them to a museum or something again. I like to go on a quiet weekday – but then I’d have to take the girls out of school. Hmmmmm…something to think about.
My son brought me the dvd case to “the Muppet Show” this morning. Thoroughly neglecting the huge pile of to-fold laundry on the loveseat, sat down with him and watched…and laughed…and sang…
and danced. Elton John/crocodile rock. Swedish chef chasing the chicken. Boy it was nice to really take that time out. TV might not qualify to some as quality time – but we had a great time.
‘kay – I spend a lot of time with my kids. So – instead maybe I should clarify – more fun/quality/peaceful/serene/silly time with my kids. 2yr old bit big sister(4yrs) yesterday morning, now he’s running around the house intimidating her. 2 yrs. old!! She’s bold as an 8 yr. old when it’s someone else, but her baby brother, she runs away screaming. She has a strong temper, and one day it’ll get the best of her, and she’ll knock him a good one. He needs it though (aren’t I a nice Mum). He’ll be shocked. So, since the incident, I’ve been shadowing him all the time, making certain I’m there when he bares his teeth – Yes – bares his teeth. Arghhhh.
Saw Santa yesterday. As we stood in line, we heard the jingling of Santa approaching. My two daughters turned, faces lit up, my son, in my arms, not really knowing what to expect (or so I thought) turns, and when he sees Santa – “hohoho” “ismis”. Santa comes over to see us, and true to form does my baby boy’s fave thing – high five – he slaps his hand in an instant. My boy is still going around the house talking about it “high, hi” “Ho, Ho’ “too, dooo(cool dude)” What a special treat. The girls were simply beaming. As planned I didn’t get any shopping done. This was a day for the kids. Grumpy Mummy got to stay at home!
going to see Santa today at the mall…today is about the kids. If I get some shopping done, great, but I want the kids to take in the
commercial sights/smells/sounds of Christmas. Remember how awed you were as a kid wandering through a bedecked mall or main street?
We’ve visited this Santa (the real one, not one of his helpers) for the past four years. The girls have sat on his lap for the pic before, but not my boy (2yrs) – we’ll see what he wants to do this year. I wouldn’t think of forcing or coercing him (or the girls). My six year old – though skeptical of the whole idea truly believes
when she sees this Santa – she’s sooo excited!
