I may have missed 1 or 2 in there but since the Red Cross is good about calling/emailing when I’m due…and since my church hosts a lot of blood drives..between the 2 I’m pretty darn regular about “the big suck” :)
It really is one of the easiest ways to be selfless there is.

If you saw my other entry, I had some real trouble with my first time donating…couldn’t get a good “stick” into my vein. 2nd time worked out fine and I gave my pint. Plan to schedule another one as soon as I’m able (2 month wait between donations). I’ve received my donor card since then but I’ve forgotten to check my blood type..I know it’s O..can’t remember positive or negative.
EDIT:
Actually I was wrong…I’m A Positive

Well, I got poked but I ended up with a hemotoma. In other words, they didn’t get a full unit cause the stick wasn’t perfect and I clotted and I’m left with a pretty ugly multicoloured wound for awhile. Still, I have had issues with this in the past when I donated plasma so I’m not giving up. I’m eligible again in 8 weeks and I’ll try again :)

Initially, I had thought once a month. It’s been awhile since I donated so I forgot about the waiting period.
I found a site in our town that’s taking blood this Saturday November 4th. I’ve booked my appointment for 8:15AM. :)
Also, and this may be true of most Red Cross sites, I signed up for their monthly email updates. This will help to remind me when it’s time to do it again.
