relearn spanish

This has been a surprisingly difficult goal for me, especially since I had a good foundation after my 2 years of high school Spanish. I just can’t seem to stay with it. One distraction I’ve faced is the voice that says, “Arabic would be much more enjoyable,” or “If you learned German, you’d be able to practice with a couple of friends,” etc.

I need to commit. This SHOULD be a fun goal to pursue.

For Christmas, I got a bookstore gift card, and used it to buy a Spanish language series. This has 40 lessons, so if I can complete them all, I should be moving the right direction.

This weekend, I made my list of 2009 resolutions, many of which overlap with my 43things goals, of course. Specific to the Spanish goal, I resolved to make it all the way through the Spanish textbook I bought years ago. If I can do that, it’ll be a huge step in the right direction.

...on this goal. Too bad my community doesn’t have some kind of community education Spanish class.

Out of my textbook, I picked 30 words that are relevant to me, my interests or my work and jotted these into the small notebook I carry in my briefcase.

...No Country for Old Men Saturday night, and I perused the language section at the bookstore. Lots of ways to learn Spanish while you’re driving. I checked out a CD series from the library, but it seems to be mainly random vocabulary.

I’ve really dropped the ball on this goal, but I’m going to pick it back up again soon, I hope.

I have some overdue books that I can’t find, so I don’t have any Murakami in the house right now, except the books I own and have already read. So, my evening reading has been through my Spanish textbook. Este noche, abro el libro.

I had two years of Spanish in high school and was relatively fluent at the end of that. However, it’s all lost now. I picked up a used Spanish textbook and want to spend a couple of lunch breaks each week studying.
