Okay, I found plans for a small (as in only big enough for 3 hens), portable hen shelter, and in taking inventory of what’s in my garage, I discovered I have all the materials to build it (except for the roofing).

This should be a good winter weekend project, assuming I can push myself to START it.

Portable 21 months ago

Originally, I had thought I’d prefer a stationary hen house. Now, I think it makes more sense to build one of the “chicken tractor” type shelters so they can be moved around on my garden area.

Yesterday, a friend told me he’s planning to buy 100 mature Golden Comets and said he’d bring me a few to get started.

This goal is within my reach.

Now that I've moved... 2 years ago

...I have enough space to keep a few hens around. I’ll just have to find a design and build a small hen house. By fall, I hope.
