There really is a reason a place is number 1 for the last 20 years. When we were in New York last week, I convinced my son to take a 45 minute cab ride with me (from Queens) in order grab a porterhouse for two. It really is that good. The taste and the sizzle reverberated in my mouth for the next couple of days. I went back to Texas, bought the best damn $32/lb prime dry aged steak I could get from Central Market, paid extra close attention to all the details and… I didn’t even come close. I am ruined. No other steak is ever going to taste that good to me. If I can’t meet this goal, I may have to move to Brooklyn or else join my daughter and become a vegetarian.
