Doing a lot better 3 years ago

I have discovered a secret for my success for this goal. I now have two places to live: a house and an apartment I rent during the week because these two are about 200 miles apart, and there is no sense in driving back and forth every day.

So, in the apartment, I have no TV and no Internet. This saves me tons of time. I can use the Internet at work, and since it is at work I do not surf there for hours. When I come home from work I have two choices: go to the gym or study for the CPA test, and I do not want to do any of those two things.

If I had access to the Internet or a TV, nothing would get done. Without having them, I exercise and then study because I am not distracted by anything. Once the CPA test is out of the way, I will get a TV for the apartment, but for the time being, it is a big no-no.

Not marking it off as done 3 years ago

I have to admit: I surfed other websites despite declaring here I would try not to. However, I did get ready for the test I had to take and I took it this morning.

In my case, I do not think I will ever be perfect and achieve evething I want to achieve. I have realized I work best under pressure. It does not mean it is good to leave everything to the last minute, but I think as long as things get done and quality does not suffer, it is ok not to be perfect.

I have met all the deadlines I needed to meet. I have never been late turning in a paper, coming to a class, arriving for an interview or anything like that. The ways I met those deadlines were sometimes stressful, but I guess I need that adrenalin rush every now and then.

I keep to-do lists and try to stick to them in an attempt to manage my time better, but again this will never be perfect. So, I am going to keep this goal as current as a reminder not to get way behind, but I came to terms to live with my-not-so-perfect self when it comes to managing time :O)

A change 3 years ago

I would like to reconsider my previous statement and introduce some changes. I have been studying for the test and I have not been visiting other sites other than this one. The reason I need to visit this website is to keep up with my weight loss goal and to stay motivated by reading other people’s success stories. This really helps me a lot.

So I am still going to mark this goal off as DONE if I do not visit any other websites but this one until I take the second part of the CPA test.

Let's see 3 years ago

I am going to put my willpower to test this time. If I can pass this test, I am going to mark this goal as “done”. Here is the test: today is May 1st. I am taking the second part of the CPA test on the 20th and I have not even started studying for that part.

I am NOT to visit any websites or forums that I usually visit until I take the test; not even this website. The only way I am going to use my computer is to do multiple choice questions in preparation for the test and check my email, that’s it.

It is hard to say how I am doing. 3 years ago

It really is because I still tend to get distracted easily by just about anything. At this point, it is very important for me to be organized because I have to take a very hard test in a few weeks, and I sure do not want to end up retaking it only because I was not organized and did not devote enough time to studying before I took the test.

Have not made any entry for a while.. 3 years ago

Well, according to this site, I have not posted anything about this goal for 18 weeks. That’s a good time period to see where I stand compared to the past. I have been able to keep up with my studies which is good, yet I still find myself playing Tetris on the computer when I should be doing something else.

Since I am on the spring break now and have to still do some studying, I am going to visit only this website during the break just to stay motivated. Will report in a week to see whether I have enough will power not to slip.

I find this website to be very inspirational. Thank you all, guys, for writing about your achievements and goals and making me to want to be where somne of you are!

A reward for myself. 4 years ago

I have just decided to spend no more than 30 minutes a day on my favorite sites, this one being an example. As a reward for managing my time better I am going to let myself read my favorite sites at the end of a day, so that I am not tempted to do so during the day.

I can do it. I sure can. Time will tell.

Need to really work on this goal. 4 years ago

I really, really need to get this goal accomplished. Now, that I have more time than I ever did before I actually get less done than before. It is weird, isn’t it?

I just cannot seem to make myself do things I need to do. All I have is a graduate school and one part-time job. Nothing compared to three jobs and school at the same time.

Gotta make myself get my behind off the chair, away from the computer and life will be so much more easier for me.
